The older children and teachers at St. Mary Kevin Orphanage Motherhood make the jewelry. They handcraft the beads from recycled magazine paper, making each bead unique. First, the paper is cut into long triangles, and then it is wrapped tightly around a pin. The resulting bead is then varnished, giving it sheen and durability. The children and teachers then select individual beads of matching hues to create these beautiful earrings, bracelets and necklaces.
The muslin fabrics are designed and tie-dyed by the older children. They are approximately 4' x 6'.
Please understand that the color of the beads and the fabrics you receive may not match these pictures. The shipments we get from the orphanage vary. You can use these pictures as a guide to style, but not necessarily color.
The balls are made by the children, also. They consist of pieces of banana tree fiber wrapped around found plastic bags. The children use the balls for playing games.
A set of ten, the blank notecards are decorated with photos of paintings and drawings made by the children.
The proceeds from the sale of these items go directly to the Change the Truth Fund, which, in turn, go directly to the children at St. Mary Kevin's to help with school fees, vocational training, food, clothing and medicine.
